As the UK government announced that from the 1st of June we were allowed to meet in groups of 6 my friends and I immediately planned a social distancing celebration. We all gathered for the first time in over 12 weeks on Saturday evening and had a few drinks and ordered a dominos – it was the perfect reunion! There were a few tears from the girls because seeing each other again in person and not through a screen triggered all the emotions.
Not seeing my friends for 3 months was a struggle, like I’m sure it was for everyone. However, it has given us a new appreciation for the simple things and the time we do get to spend in our favourite people’s company. My friends and I talked every day without fail in our group chat or on FaceTime, we did Zoom quizzes every week and we never stopped talking about what we were going to get up to when the time came! I think it brought us all a lot closer and made us realise how valuable our friendships are.
In the week leading up to the date that we were allowed to meet again, all we talked about in the girl’s group chat was ‘what are you wearing!?’. I never realised how much I would miss planning outfits with my friends. My girls and I have been obsessing over clothing hauls during lockdown. Anytime any of us order clothes we are all eagerly waiting for the mini hauls we send each other over Snapchat (it’s the little things…). So, finally to be able to get excited about buying an outfit for our first get together in 3 months was just too much fun.
I have been loving Motel over the last few months (you can see my spring Motel haul here), so it was the first place I looked to plan my outfit and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. I found my absolute DREAM trousers. These zebra print Zoven Trousers are probably the funkiest things I have ever worn. Sometimes I think I need to chill with the animal print, I open my wardrobe and it looks like a zoo! But, I just can’t help myself, anyone relate?
These trousers have a high waisted fit with flared legs, which makes them so flattering. They also have belt loops, which I think is a must when it comes to trousers like this. I paired mine with the black Double Grommet belt, also from Motel. The quality is amazing and the material is sort of in-between a jean and trouser. They are so comfortable to wear and all-around I would rate them a strong 11/10.
I also wore the white ‘Angel Energy’ top from Motel. This is one of those pieces that you can keep in your wardrobe and pair with just about anything. I think it would look lush under a graphic print shirt with jeans or with a zebra print skirt. This racerback cropped top has a ripped edge which I think looks so cool and obviously it has the cutest slogan print.
I have also been missing my nails during lockdown. If anyone knows me, you know I would never leave the house without my acrylics! Although, I must say that my nails have never been in better condition. I didn’t realise how much damage having acrylics on constantly for around 4 years had done to my nails. I saw that SHRINE was bringing out a collection of stick-on nails designed by the amazingly talented @alicemcnails. I already followed Alice’s nail account on Instagram for nail art inspiration, as I always like to get funky designs on my acrylics. I needed to order some and it seemed like the perfect time to do so when I actually had plans and could show them off!
I ordered the Butterflies design. They are amazing quality and the detailing was unreal! As I hadn’t worn false nails in over 12 weeks, when I put these on I felt like I couldn’t function anymore as they are very long! SHRINE has 4 different styles of nails and they are all priced at £12, which I think is definitely worth it considering they can be reused multiple times with proper care.
I hope that everyone is doing well and I hope you have been able to have some socially distanced reunions with your loved ones! Keep safe!
