I have to admit, I have been one of those people during lockdown who has still been doing their makeup and hair on a regular basis. Permission granted to call me weird. For me, getting up and getting dressed for the day as normal is vital for my mental health especially since I have finished university and I’ve been stuck at home with not a lot to occupy my days. Don’t be fooled, there have been some days where I have felt so unmotivated I have just sat on the couch and watched Disney+ for hours on end like a sloth. But, I’m sure most of us have been guilty of that during lockdown a couple of times (well, I hope it’s not just me).
Anyway, I have purchased a few new beauty bits to add to my stash that I have been loving over the last few months. There are also some products that I have been using for a while but have proved to be essentials for me during lockdown.
I bought this palette at the beginning of lockdown after my friends were outraged that I had never tried anything from Morphe before so, I am aware, I am probably VERY late to the hype. First of all, I was so shocked that this palette has 35 shadows and it is under £30!? I was so excited to try it when it came and I was first drawn to the middle line of colours with the vibrant pinks and oranges, oh and that gorgeous glitter pigment in the middle! I couldn’t believe how pigmented and creamy the shadows were. They don’t crease throughout the day and they blend so well. At the moment I am obsessed with the brown and copper shades in the top right-hand corner, this is pretty much my everyday eye look at the moment!
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream + Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow
I have been using Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream for a couple of years now and it is my all-time favourite moisturiser. However, during lockdown it has proved it’s worth as I have been using it frequently throughout the day, when I’m stuck in the house, to freshen up. I often clean my face a few times a day just to keep my skin fresh and hydrated and then I apply the moisturiser. My skin has never been better than it has been these last few months and I am sure it has something to do with my frequent use of Charlotte Tilbury’s magic cream, as I only used to use it on a morning! I have also been pairing it with Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonder Glow, which is a primer. It has such a soft formula and creates radiant and glowing skin. I use this both under my foundation and just on its own!
The one thing I have missed massively during lockdown is my eyelash extensions (call me high maintenance, I know). I have been getting them done for around 2 years now and I was not ready to give them a break! I am not a massive fan of strip lashes, as I am so bad at applying them and I also feel like I just don’t suit them. However, I also hate not having lashes on and just wearing mascara – dilemma! I do NOT suit huge dramatic lashes so I needed to find some that were dainty and natural-looking. I picked up a couple of styles of the Ardell Naked Lashes to try from my local Superdrug at the beginning of lockdown and the style 424 was my favourite. They have a clear strip and they are so lightweight it doesn’t feel like you are wearing them! The 424s create subtle definition and slightly wing out at the end. They are the closest look I have found to having lash extensions. I then found that they were cheaper to buy on Amazon so I can now stock up at the click of a button. I get around 4-5 wears out of mine and they are only £4.35!
Garnier Moisture Bomb Under-eye Tissue Masks
I have been doing a lot of FaceTime catchups with the girls during lockdown that have gone on until the early hours of the morning (oops, a sign we defo talk to much!) and these Garnier Moisture Bomb tissue eye masks have been a saviour to my under-eye bags! I like to apply them in the morning after my shower and skincare routine and leave them on while I do my hair. They are so refreshing and make you feel much more awake, while also masking the fact that you only had a few hours sleep!
L’Oreal Professional Serie Expert Silver Shampoo
I have already mentioned the L’Oreal Silver shampoo on my blog in my How I toned my Hair Extensions at Home post. This silver shampoo will forever be my favourite and I know I have already raved about it but it is up there with one of my top 3 lockdown beauty saviours! Without this, I think my hair would have been a brassy, canary yellow by now. I use this 1-2 times a week to keep my blonde cool and ashy and it has worked a treat.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and Clear Brow Gel
I picked up these Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products as a duo in a Beauty Bay haul back in March as I wanted to try a new brow product. I have been using the Dip Brown Pomade for years but wanted to try a product that created more of a natural and fluffy brow look. I love the Brow Wiz in shade medium brown as it is so easy to use and has a really fine tip so you can create the look of individual brow hairs. The Clear Brow Gel is also great for setting it all in place and keeping your brow hairs upright.
I have been buying quite a lot of my makeup, skincare and hair products from Amazon during lockdown as it has been so easy to order products from different brands all in one place! Also, as I have Amazon Prime, it means I don’t have to pay for delivery and it nearly always comes the next day. I have found that I can get a lot of my products for slightly cheaper on Amazon too. I have left links above for the products available to order on Amazon, it is definitely worth a look!
It has been quite a while since I have done a beauty post, but I really enjoyed writing about all of my favourite products again. Let me know what kind of posts you want to see in the future on georgiamaybeauty.com!
